VHIR offers a position at the Animal Experimentation Ethics Committee (CEEA)The Platform of Biobanks and Biomodels, promoted by the Instituto de Salud Carlos III, aims to potentiate the activity of biobanks and biomodels by offering highest level and quality cutting edge services of biobanking, services of organoid production and validation, services of 3D printing and services in the advising and execution of animal experimentation models of human diseases. This vacancy is funded by “The Platform of Biobanks and Biomodels”.
VHIR wants to create a biomodel catalogue of the services that can be provided by researchers at the Vall d’Hebron Campus. The Technician of Biomodels will be responsible of the catalogue of animal experimentation models of human diseases.
VHIR Core Facilities provide services to the scientific community to have access to specialized services of preclinical and clinical models of human diseases (from rodent models to patient samples) and VHIR Research Groups offer biomodels as services or collaborations. And the Ethics Committees Support Unit (USCE) includes the Animal Experimentation Ethics Committee (CEEA) managing all the necessary documentation for the evaluation of new procedures and projects involving animal experimentation.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Education and qualifications:
 Degree in Veterinary Medicine.
 Hold the accreditations according the Ministerial Order ECC/566/2015, of 20th March and to Directive 2010/63/EU: d Function.
 Knowledge of the regulation, law and ethical aspects related to the animal experimentation.
 Quality system management.
 Excellent communication and relational skills.
 Fluid written and spoken Catalan, Spanish and English.

Experience and knowledge: Required:
 Experience/Knowledge in Ethics Animal Project review and evaluation
 Experience/Knowledge working with experimental animals (specifically, rodents, rabbits, sheep and/or pigs).
 Strong customer orientation.
 Team player.
 Proactive, rigorous, organized person able to work autonomously, committed to the tasks required by the position.
 Willing to learn, flexibility, adaptability and resilience.

Desired:
 Hold the accreditations according the Ministerial Order ECC/566/2015, of 20th March and to Directive 2010/63/EU: a, b, c, d, e, f Functions.
 Experience in CEEA management
 Experience with research procedures
 Knowledge / experience working under a quality management systems/experience working under a quality management system (preferably ISO9001:2015 and AAALAC) other quality systems will be also valued).

Main responsibilities and duties:
 Review projects where animals are used for research or teaching, prior to the CEEA evaluation, as well as its follow-up
 Identify animal models of human diseases to be included in a catalogue of Biomodels (Animal models of human diseases) available at VHIR and integrate it with the Platform of Biobanks and Biomodels.
 Participate in CEEA meetings,
 Evaluate the program for the use and care of animals and animal facilities according to internal Annual Inspection procedures.
 Support activities arising from the implementation of AAALAC (Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care) accreditation.
 Work in collaboration with the CEEA administrative support in the tasks necessary for the service
 Internal organization as a technical scientific service
 Responsible for service request management coordinated with the Platform of Biobanks and Biomodels.
 Other management activities to fulfill the objectives of the project of the Plataforma de Biobancos y Biomodelos, working together with the Coordinator of Biobank and Biomodels.

Labour conditions:
 Full-time position: 40h/week.
 Starting date: immediate
 Gross annual salary: 22.823,22€
 Contract: until December 2023, linked to funding: Biobank Platform PT20/00107
